What would a teen realty receptionist wear?
Posted on February 22nd, 2010 by admin
I am fifteen, and working for a realty business this summer as a receptionist/office assistant doing administrative work. Is it too casual to wear jeans if I dress it up? What about to the interview??
Business attire.
Slacks, or skirt below the knee. Neutral colors (blue, black, or grey) and ’sensible’ shoes.
The trick is to try to look and act the part. Just because you’re 15, doesn’t mean you can’t look professional and that begins when a client comes in the door and looks at you.

Where my wife works the women wear suits. Skirts and blouses and jackets. If you wear jeans you probably won’t get the job. Because your working with the public and mainly ones who by houses are established familys.
Mostly older people with jobs. They don’t want to deal with a teenager in jeans. that is one of their biggest expenses.

Dress up for the interview and for the first few days of work. See what other people are wearing. Since you are young, I would ask if it’s ok to wear jeans. I’m assuming you don’t have a lot of money for business clothes and they would go to waste once school starts again. I dont’ know many 15 year olds the would wear a pants suit to school. I would ask and explain that. See what they say. Since you are young, I don’t think they will hold it against you if you ask. If they say no, just say OK and compile with the dress code.
If it helps any, my friend just got her first job at a very good, international marketing firm. They wear jeans almost everyday and only dress up for meeting and such. She’s 23 and just graduated college.

Don’t do jeans for the interview. You want to wear office attire until you learn the dress code. most offices allow jeans only on Fridays.
If you can’t afford new office attire check resale shops in your area. Used clothes can be cleaned and if you live in the right area (ie a city) you can get a weeks worth of really nice stuff for like $20
GOOD LUCK!

Khakis, nice dress pants, no spaghetti straps tee shirts. The interview you might want to dress a little bit. A casual skirt and a nice top.

Wear something dressy but not too out there or revealing. It should be classy and simple.

for the interview, wear business attire. Once your "in" you have to find out what your company policy is. Obviously, nothing provacative….no low-cut tops, no short skirts
