What causes detachment from reality during a panic attack?

Posted on November 26th, 2009 by admin

When i have a panic attack…among other symptoms, I feel like i am going to lose control of my self and i start to feel like things are not real.

What exactly causes you to feel detached from reality?

To explain it fully would take pages.. but this is the short version. In a panic attack your body is setting itself up to run away as fast as it possibly can, or to fight to the death. Your body believes it is under attack and the adrenaline and all that kind of stuff is ready for immediate action. Among those conditions that are created is the feeling of being detached. Because you need to shed all distractions and be able to focus 100% on the ‘danger’. So your mind takes you to the place of a prey animal. That is why an animal in a trap will have a glazed over look.. it is in that same place of having reality suspended so that it can fight with little pain and all of its power to get away. I survived six yrs of panic attacks and came out a much healthier and stronger person, so take hope. And I never had to do therapy or take drugs to get alright, so hang in there.

In order to know exactly you have panic attack not just the feeling you lost control of yourself. Most people with panic attacks experience several of the following symptoms:

    - "Racing" heart
    - Feeling weak, faint, or dizzy
    - Tingling or numbness in the hands and fingers
    - Sense of terror, of impending doom or death
    - Feeling sweaty or having chills
    - Chest pains
    - Breathing difficulties
    - Feeling a loss of control.

Having panic attack is realy painfull and depress. And it also the type of symptom not easy to get rid of. I had panic attack over 4years. I was very stressfull an painfull. I felt my life gone ever since I had that symptom. I always felt uncomfortable. That’s why I made difficult to my family. Day by day I psh them away from me. My doctor even gave me xanax still did not help.

Finally I have found one method that work on me ad help me get rid of panic attack forever. I also have read some good stories about the people who successed when used the same method.
