Do realty companies like Century 21 offer health insurance and 401k plans?

With matching contributions?

Or are realtors mostly left out on their own to fend for themselves?
Just curious.
Oops – for their employees (workers).

The realtors are not employees. Everyone is self employed, even realtors are answering the phone, they get leads from the phone, not pay.

The office may belong to a HMO, but the realtor will have to pay 100% of the costs, which is going to be roughly $1,000 a month for 1 person, $1,500 a month for a family

How can a realty company take posession of my land and assets when I own it?

Posted on September 5th, 2011 by admin

A realtor has taken twenty feet of my land including a well and driveway claiming it as theirs. I have owned this land for over ten years although I’ve never fenced it or lived on it.

You may be mistaken.

You would have to have a licensed surveyor mark the lines in a dispute.

Why do realty leasing companies need copies of your DL & SS?

Posted on August 29th, 2011 by admin

I’m looking at rental houses and on a lot of applications, it asks for bank account numbers, drivers license number and social security number. I can understand the SS# and maybe the DL# for background checks but why the bank account numbers (I hope my bank doesn’t give my balance to anyone that just asks) and why do they need photocopies of your drivers license and social security card?

I wouldn’t give them that information, personally. A lot of rental applications have not been updated for a quite a while…before the days of instant credit reports and credit reporting services, someone inquiring about your credit would need to provide an account number to verify the identity of who they were searching. This is no longer relevant for most places, and for the ones that it is…well, I wouldn’t go through them. I don’t personally feel comfortable leaving that info all written together on one piece of paper, it doesn’t take much for a landlord to lose it and screw your life up.

I would tell them that you don’t feel comfortable writing down account numbers, and tell them that if they want to qualify you, they can do so through a professional credit reporting service. Such services verify the validity of the inquiring party (the leasing company/landlord, in your case), so your information is more protected.

I am a new agent and was curious about other agents experience with this office?
Pennsylvania/Pittsburgh area

Now all you have to tell us the city and state of Northwood Realty Services, as there are probably dozens of companies by that name across the U.S. as seen by the following summary page:
